getting rid of spam !?

hi there,
just opened my mailbox and got about 20 spammails selling viagra, girls, cheap credit cards and the good ole "we need a bank account from india ... " joke, along with countless mails filtered by my mailserver ...

the best thing is they all go to emails i just don't have created, like "sales@", "support@" and so on.

so the problem is to own a website ... and that got me thinking:

so, what if we would raise some funds to hire a professional killer to get rid of this spamming a**h***s?

i would give, say, 50 bucks. the fk frontpage says there are about 435,307 users here, let's say 20% of them would give 20 bucks ...

this would make 1.741.228 bucks to pay the killer.

i REALY would like to get an ear of a spammer in a plastik bag and nail it to the wall beside my monitor ... that would be so great!

(and i would get less spam, too) and maybe this would stop some other spammer to send spam ... boy would that be great!

and maybe other internet users would give some bucks, too. and all the big companies ...

A DREAM WOULD COME TRUE ... just like the time when there was only netscape 1.0 - no spam in my mailbox

seems to be alot of trouble to go through when you could just open your mail box, hold down your shift key, select each offending email and hit 'Delete'.

Or even better, assign all the commonly targeted addresses, such as 'sales@.. and support@.. to a created spam folder in your mail program and empty it once a month.

most isp's or hosts offer spam assassin as standard, have you got that running? If not, I suggest checking that out as it's great for catching and deleting spamola.

It is an outlook plugin that filters 99.9% of my spam out of my mail.

Useful if you have no control over the software running on your mail server

yes, i know, i run my own dedicated server, and what's not filtered by the mailserver itself goes directly to the trash ... so i usually don't have to bother about that.

BUT: IT IS MY F*****G TRAFIC i have to pay for (not to mention the time needed for downloading the unfiltered mails, or at least look at them and delete them on the server)

so i think that if i (and the rest of the world) can get rid of some of those spammers ... it's well worth the effort.

anyway it was just an idea and i was pretty angry again that not my regular email was spammed, but some mails i never even have created ...
