and about the computer... buy the best that you can afford, as far as software goes there are sooo many free programs and trial versions of everything floating about, get those and learn the stuff.

think about it...

get the 30day trial of illustrator and learn it for 30 days, then get the next trial of a different program, and learn that over 30 days... and so on.

after 12 months you would have saved a bunch of cash to buy a copy of one or 2 of the programs you use most
