inserting a text file
ive tried most of what has been posted on this site, but still i have failed to do this. i am trying to post a text file, eventually with the correct font (arial) and background color so my visitors do not see the text box. I would also like to see about adding some amount of interactivity so whatever piece of music is selected, the corredt info is cued (movie) and the piece of music is played. for now, i will settle for figuring out how to get the damn txt file to show up in the text box. i tried inserting the dynamic text box, naming it text (for testing purposes), and then inserting it in the proper place, then putting in an action script (LoadVariable etc to the text.txt file), then naming the entry text, but it still does not work. If anyone knows what I need to do, please help me. I will attach the .fun file if anyone cares to see if they can whack away at it.
thanks
ok, well i tried to upload the file, but it wont let me, so maybe this was a waste.

Here's an example for you.
Load Text File

maybe you can help me with this flashpulse, im desperate right now. i already tried what you sent me, although it doesnt seem to work, so i suspect there is another problem. the file that needs to be loaded is about 32 frames in to the movie (or something like that), and i didnt get around to realizing that i needed to to do this until most of it was said and done. every time i now try to get the text file to be read, it wont. i even tried inserting a blank frame at the beginning to see if i needed to pre-load the dynamic text, but it still didnt work.
if there is a way to upload fun or swf files onto this forum, let me know, im sure it would help if you could see what im talking about. perhaps it has to do with the placement of the dynamic text, and when it is loaded. if this is the case, let me know.

It should work on what you're trying to do. This forum doesn't allow uploading of files but you can email me here.

There are a number of examples in the Examples > Dynamic Text folder that come with the setup.
If you want to remove the border from the text box, double-click on the box and set Border to 'no'.

Relaxing
I had this problem once and by changing the export setting to flash 6 and checking the box "for backward capability...". my problem was fixed. What it is was I was using action script to load the movie and this somehow interfered. It may not be the problem though.
Any programming language is at its best before it is implemented and used.

Ok, got your email. So you want logowhite to play then have your text file work, right? If so, send me logowhite.fun.

if you open the fun file that i sent you, open it up. when you view it, at the end it will stop. at that point, you will see that i placed a text box on the slightly square dark grey area. what im trying to do is simply have the text file show up there, so id would have to be done with the fun file provided. i only provided the swf file because it is referenced in the script, so if you run the movie and do not have that swf, then you will get a white screen for a while (not the proper effect that i am going for, but i guess still usable for this purpose).
so in short. i just want a text file to show up in the text box that is already in the fun file provided. i am certain that after figuring this out, i could easily enable html and such to match backgrounds, proper text and such.

Problem solve, you can't have your text color the same color as your background. That's why you wasn't able to see the text. I changed it to white and sent it back to you through email.
The reason I was asking about the fun file is because when you use the load swf as object, if you plan on using a preloader, it won't preload this with the rest of the movie. Best to use the load movie feature and use your fun file so it all preloads. Enjoy
Nice work by the way.

thank you so much. for some reason i had a hunch that it was something that i was overlooking. it works great now.
now im onto figuring out how i can actually program it to load and play the music.
if you know of anyone that has developed something like this, a flash mp3/radio player, or know of any tutorials, let me know. id like to add the play and stop buttons on the left hand side, and on the right side, pictures of the album or something like that along with a listing of the songs that they can choose from. i may even incorporate a volume level in there as well.
thanks a lot, you solved a problem i was about ready to go crazy over.
