Flash Graphics Question

i am an html developer looking to move tword flash. i am wondering what the best programs to develope flash graphics with are. for html i use photoshop mainly, but is photoshop good for creating flash website layouts? or should i use flash/fireworks, etc..?

please post your opinions and suggestions.

Photoshop and Flash will do just fine. I mostly do interfaces completely in Flash.
For 3d to vector there is also Swift3d.

i heard that bmp, jpg, gif's, etc in flash can cause memory usage issues, is this true?

No, it is not true unless you use a lot of 40mb jpgs in your gallery. But noone would do that.
