    i have made the button in photoshop and then imported the .png, in turn i then converted to a button.

    Ok, I see the lines in the button now. But they are not that obvious in my opinion. I think the difference is minimal. But that may say more about me needing glasses......=)

    It could be one of many things. If my understanding is righ, the button is a jpg. If that is the case, it could be the compression you have set when you publish the swf. It could also be an alignment issue. Make sure that your image is aligned to exact pixels on the stage.

    its imported into fmx in .png format, it has a transparent section round the edge to make the gap and i align it in the bottom right corner using the "align" box

    still confused how to fix it :s

    make sure that all movie clips associated with the button (if its inside another movie clip) and the button and image are aligned to exact pixels (100 rather than 100.2 for example) you can find this by selecting your symbols and checking the info panel.
    I also advice you tho align things using the top left corner of the symbol rather than the bottom right.
    Also make sure that your image is being exported as a png and not a jpg.

    w =124.0
    h =52.0

    x =151.0
    y =223.0

    this was the positioning before, i have now changed the page and aligned the button in top left corner using the align box and i still get the same discrepancy

    are those the coordinates of the image? if so, also check the coordinates of the button. Everything associated with the button needs to be aligned perfectly. Also, have you checked the export settings of the image?

    i took the before.png file and i converted to symbol --> "button" then i edited in place and changed "down" to beforeon.png

    my .fla is here

    http://www.cl-landscapes.co.uk/flash/test.fla

    i just cannot understand why this is happening.
