@%$#&* Microsoft !!
OK, here's the scoop. MS is making changes to the IE browser that will affect how viewers view Flash content. Here is a Newsletter from NetMechanic (with helpful links) that summarizes the changes:
http://netmechanic.com/news/vol7/browser_no1.htm
Maybe we can discuss this topic a little within this forum to help out those (like me) who now have to re-code a site (whose viewers primarily use IE) that contains many, many flash files. What are the best options? Anyone addressing this issue for their own site yet? What are you doing about it?

Yes, microsoft, the root of all evil. I plan on switching to mac before the end of the year. I'll keep my pc for a little while after the switch but I would like to get as far from microsoft windows (crapware) as possible. I know there is still software you can get that is made by microsoft using mac but it'll be my choice and I won't even think twice about buying it. As time goes on, you'll see microsoft taking more control over there windows system.
Not that I have alot against microsoft, they did make it possible for us to do what we do today with pc's, but a mac is just more stable and faster with their cpu's and memory technology.
I would use an alternate browser after this takes effect but this doesn't help your viewers though if they're still using IE or just don't update. I don't have any updates on my pc, at least from windows updates. Every os I have had, when i used their updates, my computer would start doing silly stuff.
That's all I can suggest. Sorry to put my views on mac against pc but that's just what I think.

I don't know the future of Microsoft (Galactic Corporation),but several Macromedia products (including Flash & ShockWave players) are included into Windows LongHorn.
So ... I'll take a sweet nap right now.

I don't think it's as bad as it all sounds, I phoned our local M$ rep and asked about this and as far as he knows, the dialogue box will be an optional funcion, just as allowing "DirectX" content is an optional function within your IE browser. So basically "You will be able to turn it off". It'll be interesting to see (once this thing appears) just how many people will actually bother to turn it on in the first place or, if it comes already turned on as default, then how big will be the rush to turn it off. I honestly think that this is probably another case of "Let's have another dig at Billy" because as you all know, no matter how ill informed or sometimes downright false the information, it's the fashion to kick M$ and if my rep is correct then the article is guilty of kicking by ommision of factors pertinent to the full article. But then again, it's much easier to publish the bad bits and then say "OOOPS, Sorry,, it was an oversight on our part to forget to include the good bits". Cheers
