    [BETA] Doodle

The game is going to be based on high scores, so you can't die, but everytime you get hit you lose points. You start out with a time for each level, then the time left when you finish is added to your score.

The code for this platformer is pretty much done. I threw together a quick main menu for composition and for the time being I have a loop from the Loops Section (thanks Al Hack) that plays on the main menu. Please inform me of any glitches you can find in gameplay. Suggestions for are also welcome.

    To Do:
    - more levels
    - main menu
    - sound
    - balanced scoring (time/point loss and gain from enemies)
    - cinematics (maybe)
    - anything else that needs to be done

    Here it is:
    Doodle (beta)

    (CONTROLS: arrow keys=move, space bar=attack)

haha, i loved it its an awesome idea that could, with some more work, be a really fun platformer! reminds me of a boring class of english or maths

    awesome work

    tips:
    - you may want to work on your platforms. i mean some of them have slopes but obviously you have drawn a straight rectangle for them. having them curved would add to the experience. (it isnt hard to do btw: i can give u the code - about 6 lines - if u want. email me at [email protected])
    - scrolling downwards. u can go off the screen. maybe make limits on the bottom of the screen

other than that, its a nice addictive start

    Quick replies!!!

    Thanks for the complements.

leight - I increased the scroll speed, jumped off the top thing, and he stayed in the screen, so I think I'm good there.

    BTW I emailed you.

Yup. That was very fun and very original I must say. The only problem I had with it was that you can't attack while you are jumping. It would be cool to do air assaults.
    Keep up the good work.

    Thanks,

dbarbarian - I've thought about that and decided it would be more challeging to trick the enemies. If you step back a few when the flying eraser dives, you can get him while he's stuck in the ground. That would probably be more fun than just coming up from behind and hacking at him.

    Thanks for the suggestion though

    I like this Idea!

The doodles on the note book paper is a neat concept. But I have seen it prior to this. Some guy, cant remember his name, was going to teach his class, flash game developement I think. He had also used this same concept, "Doodles on notebook paper" that was a while ago he posted it here, anyway I like it, it is cool..

    3DWANNABE....................

P.S. You could be the same dude, I dont really remember.....

    Wasn't me...

My Doodle started when I told my friend I wanted to make a Mario style game and he drew Doodle as a suggestion. I said I'll do the programming if he did the art, and Doodle was born.

BTW I think my friend saw something like it, becuase it was instant when I said Mario style game.
