OK you've all seen 'Gladiator', well here is a little less well known gladiator from Roman times - Minimus.
Help our hero Minimus to win his freedom and defeat the warrior champion.
We plan to add more levels to the game...maybe a chariot race...any suggestions would be most welcome.

Superb presentation and very well executed but improvements could include more moves (gameplay tends to get a little boring) and visual indictaion when you get hit (other than your energy going down). Oh and get rid of the cheesy Duke-nuke'em voice overs!

Very Nice. Gameplay could include a little motion side to side to add soem dynamics. But Its GREAT. I played it till my boss yelled at me.
I "ouch" indication would be cool too.

I know the game needs more moves and more variety to keep it playable...perhaps if I get some free time I can develop it a little.

And how about a little animated indication to indicate you struck a blow or received a blow? I swear, so many people MAKE games but don't appear to have PLAYED any. Model your games after established norms folks.
It irks me that people here pat each other on the back over how nice a game LOOKS and treat gameplay as secondary. This day in age graphics aren't the challenge in making Flash games, it's the interaction and fun factor that is.
Some rules:
-Whenever an event occurs, show a visual indication, along with a sound.
-Interaction is key; The more you let the user DO [without overcomplicating things] the more fun it is (exceptions exist--this is assuming you do everything else right).

Would not spend more than 10 minutes on it but it's nice. (hey, dont worry. I spent 30 minutes on Super mario and was already bored).
You should realy make that opponent fork bigger. We do not feel like it touched us.
But for the rest...great work...

I totally agree with your points. I do intend to develop the game, more moves, animations etc.
One thing that I don't agree with is your comment:

This is a big problem in the games market at the momment. Too many game developers are sticking to the 'norm' and producing clone after clone. Where are the new innovative ideas going to come from if everbody takes your attitude.

"Norms"
By NORMS I am referring to established rules that have been refined over the last 20 years of video game history and evolution. Much like it is an established "norm" for an automobile to use a steering wheel (rather than say, a joystick), there are "norms" or rules that are inherently correct to apply to game design as well.
Thus, it irks me to see games that don't follow the basics of what makes a good game. But alas, Flash games are only marketing tools, right? Well, it doesn't have to be that way...
