Photoshop 7 Help

Ok i need help, never done this b4 but its been on my mind for a while. I was wondering how i would achieve the following.

OK you know how they have those image that have been converted to black and white. Where the dark areas from a certain darkness are blank and the light areas are white ? Not Gray scale more i mean its either black or white. Does anyone know what im talking about.

I just want to use a photo of mine an apply that formatting.


Anyone know how this is done. If you dont understand dont hesitate to ask me to refraise

Also if the image has already been grey scalled then you can adgust it as acuratly as you want, adusting it by brightness and contrast
