Loaded txt file problem (complicated)

Hi...

I'm having a weird problem with text files not loading properly...this is fairly complicated, so I'll try to explain as clearly as I can....Apologies in advance for the length of this post...

I have a full site built in Flash...In the center of the page sits an empty movie clip ("content"). Content is loaded into this based on a variable value with attachMovie. So the code in each of the navigation buttons looks something like:
