Exporting to .avi

Hi Everyone.

Firstly this is my very first post, so to anyone who responds thankyou for your advice.

I've done a small cartoon for my daughter which is about 1 minute in length at 720 x 576 (PAL). I'm trying to export it out as an .avi file so I can add some music and effects in Final cut express on my Mac (I'm using flash MX on a PC), and the avi files I'm getting out look pixelated. I've tried different codec's to keep the size of the avi file down, as well as an uncompressed file which is huge in size but still the results arn't that great. Has anyone got any suggestions? Would exporting a .jpg sequence be any better?

You still didn't tell us about codec you are using. What kind of compression rates etc.
