Talking about firewalls, what ports does your company accept?

Not much, the only non-standard one i think is 8080 for proxys and 8443 for something or other, the rest are the standard ones (outgoing only) like ftp, pop, smtp, ssh, http, etc

good stuff - this game makes my head explode tho! I just had a really hectic game with somebody, turned into a paranoid man-marking exercise, if each of us saw an opposing player with space, they would immediately be blocked!

maybe you could have the protective ring around the players at all times so you can't postion a player directly in front of someone else

also, it seems you're always fighting against the the speed of the opponents connection, I would pass the ball into open space and the opponents player would magically appear in the way. Maybe if it was turn based this issue would be resolved, have you played the games at www.globz.com? It brings out more strategy and less frantic panic, but still feels quick and well paced

    I loved it!

As for what mentuat said, i'd have to agree, make it turn based, where you can move say.. 3 players a turn, or if you pass the ball to the opposition, or if you throw it out.

Would make it alot less dependant on connection speed

Have been a quite thinking before it become this. It started with I found http://www.tif2004.com soccer-pool-thing. An interesting strategy of this game is that you can continue playing if you only hit your own player. This can be done in two ways, passing the ball or shoot your player to another of your players so it just touch the ball. I really liked the game but after a while...it felt too much the same and no goal of it. I wanted more dynamic strategy. First I had the idea of doing a turnbased soccer but it become more or less realtime because it sounded more fun in the beginning. The way of playing it now have been change in meantime of developing.

the hunting of the perfect online game goes on...
