No argument there. At least they skew it in a direction i'm comfortable with.
Well, that's no good. I think if you see both sides of the story, you can truly decipher what's spin and what isn't.

I personally like O'Reilly, he's truly independent although he leans right (which is why he's on Fox News). I'm an independent thinker, and I agree with things he says as a whole because it's about solving the problem and not "how do I feel" ... except when he goes off about the entertainment industry where his bias is ever apparent.

He was doing a good job on keeping it balanced on the election until after his interview with Bush where last night he started to show a bit of bias towards W.

Bill O'Reilly is about as independant as Karl Rove. O'Reilly's been a registered Republican for over a decade. Don't buy the crap he says when asked about it: There was no box for independant. I left all of them blank and someone else must have checked it for me. There was a box for independants, and O'Reilly chose to check the one for Republican. O'Reilly has a tried and true formula for dealing with painful truths.

    1. Lie about it every chance you get. Make the lie the foundation of your credibility (just like Fox's "Fair and Balanced" slogan).
    2. When challenged about your lie, cut the other person off and end the show. If it's not on your show, yell and try to change the subject to other things. Call your accuser names and don't let them talk.
    3. Once the news that you lied is out, discredit the person who caught you by using (guess what) more lies.

    ------
If you like O'Reilly, that's fine. Just don't watch him thinking he's independant, because he isn't.

Well, O'Reilly is a registered independent. I said he leans more to the right than I do, but we're both indepenedents (I lean more to the left, but that doesn't mean I'm a liberal ... far from it).

Perhaps we need to define what being an independent thinker is. That means you don't believe in everything that one side says without questioning it.

    for example:
    1. someone on the left who is pro choice, pro gay rights, being artsy, and all that other liberal stuff without ever really THINKING about those issues. It's just their identity, that's what they're supposed to believe in, so they do without thinking it through.

    2. someone on the right who is pro life, pro death penalty, for the NRA, ultra Christian ... and never think about whether or not its right to deny people their rights, or whether it's right to force your beliefs on everyone else ... it's their identity, they're from Alabama and that's how people are supposed to be, so that's what they are, and they never think about it

an Independent is a person who says "hey, what are the facts" and doesn't submit to partisan crap. O'Reilly doesn't care whether gays get married or not, but understands why the church doesn't want it to be changed because that's been the definition of marriage for years ... he's about environmental controls ... he thinks marijuana should be legalized ...

    those aren't very conservative views.

Now again, he may lean right, but he's not a partisan.

And if you think he's a registered republican, he's made a bet to anyone who thinks that. Got $10,000?
