Maybe because it was a deliberate sleazy attempt by a "reputable" Network and Dan Rather to try and influence peoples attitude towards Bush and trying to affect his chances of being re-elected.

At the very least the should have been sacked.

I mean Democrats try to come across as the "principled" party, but they seem to want to shift attention on this one very quickly.

His guard record is out in the open from what I have read nothing shows that he failed or ran away from his duties, yet look at Kerry's Xmas in Cambodia claim.... now thats a different story.

If Bush wins this election (its possible he will ) he should refuse to ever do an interview with all the blatant biased reporters who have failed to do their basic duty to report. He should even make it his policy NOT to take any questions from these reporters during Press announcements.
