how to make firefox run faster

    http://forevergeek.com/open_source/m...fox_faster.php

    Code:
Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

    That's unreal.
I really enjoy forgetting. When I first come to a place, I notice all the little details. I notice the way the sky looks. The color of white paper. The way people walk. Doorknobs. Everything. Then I get used to the place and I don't notice those things anymore. So only by forgetting can I see the place again as it really is.

I can see a bit of a difference. k10k.net still loads pretty slow.

part of me blames the fact K10K.net is ASP.NET based for the initial slowness.

awful nice if somewhat known tweak ....

    as to the maxrequests:

this could be set lower to 16 or something
some knowledgeable people argue it won't even work above 8 requests.

another old tweak setting you could change is

browser.turbo.enabled change the value to true

I'm not sure if this value is still supported in the application but it is still in the config list
