    streaming

i am just finishing off my new site using Koolmoves and have the following problem:

i have created a media centre which will play all my own songs. Each link will open up a movie on a new level which will contain information on the song and automatically play an mp3. I want the mp3 to start b4 it is fully loaded (stream). when i created a test movie to try this out i selected the stream option, but when the movie loads it still insists on fully loading b4 playback.

Don't know if it's just me being thick - please help

    Thanks

    Martyn

make a blank frame as number 2 and then add as many tweens in "secs" for the amount of time you need before the movie starts then set the "play sounds" to frame 1. that should do it. It maybe better to do this one frame forward because flash doesn't really like the first frame so add a blank frame as frame 1 "0 tweens" and then set the music to play on frame 2 "0 Tweens",, then set frame 3 with as many tweens as you need to let the music start before the visual frames start playing.

Thanks 4 that - just worked out my problem-had the pre-loader on!!!!!

Out of interest-does anyone know how to control the amount of time the mp3 streams for b4 playing because it now plays instantly which is fine for us bigband users but a pain for mortal dial up users

    thanks

It should start almost instantly if you have it set to play from the first frame,, but as you pointed out,, the big difference is between "Bigband " and "Elasticband". if you want the slowgos to get the music after or before the movie starts then play with the tweens, but you can't deal with both systems at the same time. If it's a home site then set it up for dialup and you'll cover 75% of your visitors. If it is a proffesional/commercial site then set it up for broadband 256K minimum,, probably 512K will be better.
