Creating a New Flash Page

Hello to all.

My name is moenyc and I am from new york. I am using Kool Moves so that I can create a web page that use flash. But however I dont have any experience using flash other using a template just adding text. I have yet to build a flash web page on my own. The reason for this is I am starting a Independent Record label greaing to the Urban side. Hip Hop and R&B music. So having a flash web page is very important to me. Can some help me out in getting started using this software. I do have yahoo messenger. [email protected]

First do you have a domain or somewhere to upload your files? If you have a label then it needs to be the name of your domain to appear proffesional. Then you must have someway to upload with a FTP program.

As for koolmoves, set a movie to 750*400. (use movie>>movie width/height).This should work on monitors set at 800*600. This seems to still be the concensus as most people use this setting on their computers. Next set the background text. Then add you logo or name or whatever seperates you from the rest. At this point add whatever you want, pics, navigation buttons or text. Don't worry about actionscript for now. (When you get something you like, display it here and people will tell you what steps to take next.)

now go to file>>export movie>> save as flash and html. Name the file index. Now upload to your server and you should be able to look at it on the web.

Thank you so much for taking the out to reply. I do have a domain name ready to go for the Rrecord label. I have done my own logo for the label. I have even did a web site in html. But from judging from other web site that record labels have put up. Its in flash. and some look great some look ok.

I have taken the time to unzip what koolmoves has given in terms of support of starting out with your first web page. But I will follow some of the advice you have given me.

There are also some pre-made mp3 players around here and koolmoves will stream music, as I have experimented with this for hours and hours. Try necromanthus.com for one already made and ready to use. I have some of my own.

Thank you much for the mp-3 link. I like the sound it made. Any What is your skills like for designing the interface for the web site. After playing around with koolMoves today I figured out how to edit the webtemplate it came with. So the mysterious part of how to make a website in flash using koolmoves is gone. Now...... My first mission is to get a cool website inferface up. Any suggestion how how i can do that.

If you use necromanthus player, then just load with

holder.loadMovie("mp3player.swf");
stop();

this is explained with the readme file in his zip file. Ot make a pop up that loads when the index is loaded, or add a button to load the mp3 player.


Just to clarify, what would you like to have, if you could have anything? Can you give a link to an example?

go here and download the file called volume and pan.

Then design your interface around that. Change any thing that you want. Thuis is what you have to do. Adding stop/start buttons later is pretty easy. When you have what you want, you can use loadmovienum to place it on your site were ever you want it. or if you are using an html site, you can put in in a table somewhere. I think this would make a good start if you are limited on design experience. I am no expert myself but I know it is not impossible. And this player streams a song, so that if you want to change the song, simply upload an mp3 (call it mysong.mp3)to your server without having to change and recompile anything else.

Well this question is going to get a million responses, but I use http://www.aplus.net/ There are also taking care of my other sites and if i were to do another one, I would use them. It is 10 bucks a month and if you pay for a year they waive some fees.

start with solo xr as you will not need 500 email address but you will want the 2gigs of space for the music and 50 Gigbytes of transfer.

If you get real big and famous like Phil Spector, Then you will have to go to a better plan, But you can always do that when the time is right. All these companys like to upgrade, they don't like to downgrade. Don't waste your money until you need to.

There may be some other people that have better plans that can be suggested here. I do not know were you are in this field. You may need more bandwidth than this to start so these are some things to look at.

I have managed to adjust one of the templates on kool moves, but what I noticed is the text that I want to add. It does not show when I go to view it in the web browser as I go along. Do you have any idea what can cause that or am i doing something wrong. But the photo will play like say if I want the photo to come in from the side but not the text. when i give it a special feature. like come in from the top.

An example like this you have to post. There is no way that I can tell what you are talking about. But my suggestion is to keep trying until you get it right. Flash is buggy sometimes, but reliable. Sometimes you have to post it on the web to find out if it really works. Go to the sticky at the top of the page and post there (Called site check). Then people who have previous problems can give solutions or suggestions.
