    Anyone used one of these?....

I saw this new CD medium advertised in a local electronics store flyer, where you can burn labels onto CDs. Called lightscribe, more info is here:

Supposedly using lightscribe compatible CD and DVD drives you can just burn an image onto your CD. Has anyone seen this, or used it before? I'm intrigued

I was looking into this the other day with a co-worker. I think you have to buy their CD's/DVD's, since the label side needs to be the kind of material that the laser can draw on. Nice, but a rip-off in the long run IMO.

the epson r-300 makes nice full color prints on cds/dvds. of course you have to buy white printable surface cds, but those are widely available. it also does a nice job on photos.

i would recommend a printer with direct cd printing function, too. Get some Colour protection spray and your disc looks like done by professionals, the spray puts a water-tight varnish layer on your disc - also great for photo prints on paper!
