It's not 18, it's 21.
But there are many many casinos on reservations where the age is 18.

so for everything except some on reservations, it's 21?

No, depends on what state you're in. In Minnesota, you can gamble(buy lottery tickets/pull tabs/bingo) at age 18. But on the reservations you can play slots/poker/blackjack...there hasnt been any state owned casinos yet...but they're in the works.

if you go to Las Vegas or AC, you have to be 21 to gamble in the casinos. If you go to Foxwoods in Connecticut, (the biggest casino in the world) then you can be 18, since it's on a reservation. Turning Stone in upstate NY is another big casino where you can gamble if you're 18.
Lottery tickets etc are 18 I think in most states, but that's not really considered gambling is it? More like just throwing your money away/donating to the state.

I never understood why you have to be so old to gamble in the USA yet you can learn how to use a gun when you are a kid.
I also found it rather stupid the way my brother when he was 17 could not rent an 18's movie that contained killing, yet at the time he was training with the army and learning how to kill people.

Because until you're 18, the chances are that you're not fiscally responsible enough to gamble. Moreover, there's great odds that you don't have much money, and the money you're losing gambling should be used for something else.
Practically speaking, people at the bottom of the wealth spectrum shouldn't be gambling - they're more likely to lose larger portions of their income than those at the top. Realistically speaking, anyone under 18 is on the lower end, and should be spending their money on something more constructive (like beer).
Finally, you can shoot under 18, but you can't buy guns, which means you can't own guns, which means it has to be supervised. Try supervising gambling, see how that goes.

My point is not to legalise gambling at an eariler age but to severly restrict/ban guns at earlier ages.
Obviously allowing every kid to gamble away their pocket money is not an ideal situation, but an even worse one is allowing every kid to learn how to kill people, uh wait.. I mean 'deer'.

Hey I have a great idea! Let's turn this thread into a gun control debate. Haven't had one of those in awhile!
Actually, I don't think have to be 18 to walk into a casino, you just have to be accompanied by someone over 18. Last time I was in AC I saw a couple kids running around the slot machines at like 2am. Stupid stupid parents.

Maybe the people were from outside the US or in a different time zone and flew in to AC, and had nothing else to do and just wanted to look around.
Oh, what am i saying, who would go to AC unless you lived there.
