good illustrations

help a bad artist

Hey, ive only been using flash Mx for a couple of weeks and i think ive got the gist of it down, but i was wondering how so many different "programmers" get such awesome illustrations. Do they draw them by hand then scan the images into their computers, or do they just posses some mad skills that i lack completely?

Flash has some very nice drawing tools. I like them better than the same tools in Photoshop. But flash can also use images and swf files created in other programs, like 3-D and movie files. But no program can make an artist out of a sows ear. You have to have the talent.

I also suck at drawing. What I have been doing is I import a picture into flash and then trace it. Sometimes gets a cool effect.

Yeah, I definatley rank in the sows ear category. I don't have an artistic bone in my body.

thanks for the reply, it was very useful (especially that tracing idea, ill have to put that into my bag of tricks)
