IE security setting regarding activeX control

I don't know how to fix this person's problem so I am asking you people --

He is getting this message when be tries to preview his movie in KoolMoves.

Your current security setting prohibits activex controls on this page....

He fiddled with a few things in Internet Explorer settings but is unable to make the message go away.

What is the solution?

Talking about IE6:
click on "Tools / Internet Options / Advanced "
enable "Security : Allow active content to run in files on My Computer"

a thought if you allow all activex from your browser you will be leaving yourself open to malware programs, do you have windows sp2-this gives you the chioce to allow or disallow.

Has nothing to do with that.
It's about "active" files hosted by your HDD.
In fact, this setting is a stupidity (related to Flash & ShockWave), because these plugins are not able to WRITE or to download & launch files on your HDD.

I use it, and I have never had any problems. Plus, there are tons of extensions to choose from. It might not even fix your problem, though. But, I woud switch to it anyway.

usually I just press the yellow bar on top of the screen, which pops up all the time when having to deal with Active X control. Then select "allow blocked content" then some "are you sure" box will pop up, he says yes, then Bam works fine. for me.

Necro is both right and wrong. Active X components will write to disk and change registry keys but right in the fact that flash / shockwave will not although some smart script kiddie is probably working on that right now. The best solution is to do as Necro says and then load "Spybot plus Teatimer" to your system and set them to run on "startup". Teatimer will monitor your registry and disallow registry changes unless you specifically tell it to do so (it always asks). Just google "spybot" from Kolla. It's free and is very good as a general pc tool as well as killing spy and malware.

Shockwave-Flash Active X components can NOT write to disk and can NOT change registry keys !
MacroMedia is very sensitive to this kind of things ...

There are many more ActiveX components than just flash and shockwave. Just take a rain check on the crud that M$ .asp is promoting at the moment.
