    MP3 samples- please test

    Hi-

I've made a site for a friend of mine's band, using a flash movie to play MP3 samples. According to some users in the USA and UK, it is not working correctly, though it seems this is an IE only issue

Please click on any of the songs listed at http://www.freshlyground.com/albumns.php and tell me if you get any javascript errors or the music doesnt eventually start.

    Thanks

Edit - oh, and while youre testing, please comment on the speed.. its hosted in South Africa, so I think it may be a little slow to load.

    Hi Scudsucker!

First I tested the files in Firefox and they worked. Using my cable connection (max download of ~ 900 kilobytes per second, and therefore comparatively uncapped), the music started playing after 6 - 10 seconds of loading.

I then tested the website in IE6. I tried visiting the website for 6 times, but the website did not load properly. None of the images showed up; only the links to the MP3 files were shown. The music loaded properly, but something strange happened. The loading bars showed up in the wrong places whenever I clicked a file from the second album.

    I have attached a screenshot.

I am located on the Eastern Coast of the United States.

    Hi Veniogenesis-

I've tracked down the problem- wierd as it may seem, it was due to an "invaid" call from the flash to a javascript function. The call should have 2 parameters normally, but I did script the javascript to handle a null or empty parameter. ( using basic param!=null && param!="" ). The first time the flash movie called the function, as part of a verification of load, one parameter was an empty string.

This worked in Firefox, but stopped the page load in IE completely, but without throwing an error. Wierd stuff! Thats why sometimes more and sometime less of the site was displalyed- it depended on the timing of the flash MP3 player's download.

Thanks very much for your kind assisitance.

    Hi Scudsucker!

I'm glad to see that you were able to fix the errors! The player seems to be working perfectly.

    Keep up the great work!
