Attacting Sound to Varibles

I have a wave sound, and i dont know how to use sound in flash so how would i add it to my file...

I dont want to have to add the code to each and every thing i want sound to so can i just say

_root.sound1 = (sound code)

and then on the MC have
on(release){
play (_root.sound1)

I would suggest you first take a look at the tutorials on sound objects listed in the Common Sound Probelms Sticky thread listed at the top of this forum. These should get you started with basic sound control.
