    which of these control schemes do you perfer (new ver included)

    ive been working away on my RPG and im trying to decide early on what kind of controls i want to use. im open to suggestions.

    Magic:
    1-fireball
    2-firecross
    3-rotating orb

    Controls for this ver: (new version)
    aswd - move
    click to attack
    stand still to block

    a-attack (hold to charge)
    d-defend
    w-move forward
    s-move backward

    Personally, i like lots of control, so I'd prefer moving with some keys on the keyboard (no moving towards mouse though) and then aiming with the mouse. But out of your two examples I liked the second one better because all those attack buttons are hard to use if your trying to move with 'w' and 's' at the same time.

    I did something like this for the doomed 'Arena Online'. I tried quite a few control schemes, and the one that worked out best was to have the arrow keys controlling which way you walk (the way you're facing wouldn't matter), and to have the mouse controlling which way your guy is looking. You'd attack by clicking, and change weapon using Tab or Q/E.

    I prefer the second one. But i suggest you to give the user which control to use.
