One day older, one day wiser
that's perfect. and free! (part-time project management software)
Ever go "I wish there was a site that did this and this" and then find it? Greatest feeling ever.
http://sidejobtrack.com
I just found this today while searching for a simple and cheap/free project management software/site. Everything I found before this was waaaaaaaay to complicated and over kill for what I needed.
This is perfect and FREE! It also creates invoices which is what I was also looking for.
I was going to pay someone to develop something like this, but now I guess I don' t need to. haha
Now all I need to find is a simple script and site where my client can log in and interact. So far http://www.basecamphq.com/ looks like the best option, but it's still a little bit of overkill.
Maybe this should be in the boardroom...
Anyways, back to work.

Total Universe Mod
I've been all over looking for a dumbed down client/vendor tracking system too and I can't seem to find a better solution that a good ol' forum.
I envision a job request made by starting a new post, samples/links provided in that very thread which can have the word [done] appended to the title. Plus, in case of fiasco, anyone else can view the entire history. It's just dumb enough.

Now listen heah!
i've been using http://www.billingorchard.com for about six months and it's the simplest, and easiest for invoicing and managing clients.
it's project management side is somewhat lacking, but after i got used to everything else i've had little need for it.
another thing you might try is sugarCRM. i installed it for a while, it's free and does tons of stuff.

Domo Arigato!
We wrote a real simple project management program a few years back in ASP with an Access DB backend that we still use today. It is very simplistic, has a real slap job of a forum, basic project handling, simple bug tracking, a simple but incomplete documentation module, and a project task manager. We were thinking about putting it on Sourceforge and letting some other people who might have a use for it have a crack at it.
