Trying to convert video clip into a .gif animation
Well this wasent getting any attention on the flash video foums so, im trying to convert a short video clip into a .gif animation. I imported the video, sized it and everything, then I published it as a .gif. But when I try to view the .gif its only one frame and its white. I made shure to select animated and not static and everything. I also tryed exporting it as a .mov and got the same results. Why wont it work? The .swf works just fine so im wondering if the video can only be viewed in a .swf. If so how can I convert it. (I am useing Flash 8)

there is an animated .gif option in publish settings (flash 8)
FILE > PUBLISH SETTINGS > check the box next to "gif" then go the the "gif" tab at the top.
make sure the option for "animated" is checked then set your resolution and color, then hit the publish button at the bottom
Cause that's just who I am this week.

You obiously dident read my post above, I already tryed publishing as a .gif. It created the .gif but it only shows up as blank. There is no animation from the video.

you obviously didn't read MY post, because I published a movie before I replied, and mine was animated. I don't reply unless I know what I'm talking about!
Here, maybe this will paint a picture for you:

you can also soemting liek QuickTime, load you movie, set the portion of the movie you want, and export tha portion to squential images. (you can then load these progessively with a click of a button.)
that is how I do my rotoscoping..

No see I tried doing that, and its still comeing out white. Can you explane how you imported the video, because I think thats whare something is going wrong. It says its an embedded video, dose that have anything to do with it? And I tryed exporting it as a quicktime movie also, same thing. And sorry I was kinda a jerk in the last post.

you missed what "I" said.. my sugestion was basically using QuickTime o get your sequential .gif images. (you can use Image Ready to make it animated after that)
or if you (in FLASH) go to import..and go to the folder where quicktime exported your images....when you click on iage 1.gif it will see thrre is a series and ask if you want to import them ALL consecutively.
the flash/video way me better, this was just an alternative.

The video file is not a .mov file, its a .avi file so it will not open in quick time. Is there a way to turn a .avi into sequential .gif images?

Ok well, it looked like it was going to work, I opend the file up in image ready, but when it showed me the video it was all white. (I could hear the sound) So then I imported the video and every frame was white. I thought doing something like this would be simple! lol
