i'd just love to go to the US one day and fire as many different guns as i could
(on a shooting range of course) especially the dirty harry type magnum,an uzi and perhaps a bazooka. (or is that called a missile launcher nowadays)?
sad really, but i have seen so many American films and heard so much crap from people who claim to have fired magnums who say they would take someones head off or blow them 6 feet into the air etc that i'd like to try it for myself (not with real people or animals of course).
here in england you probably need a licence for a peashooter.
lol, i sound like a right macho muppet, but in reality i am quite a peaceful person. (honest).

unfortunately, its not so easy to get ahold of and shoot a bazooka down at the range here.
its true that a magnum would not blow a person into the air. however, at the right range and angle it probably would knock a head off. certainly make your arm sore for a week if you're not used to it.

Hi, like Gerbs, I have shot lots of weapons, but i can say without a doubt tha a .44 manum can take a persons head off.
When I was younger I worked a farm in Missouri, I also hunted the property with my uncle for table meat.
Anymore I am not a real hunter, i would rather look at the animals than shoot them,but...
I shot a large doe (female deer) with a .44 magnum right behind the ears and it blue a whole so large it took out the spine, half the neck and the rear portion of the skull. (sorry if the graphic nature offends)
It all depends on the type of load being used. A regualr .44 round has lots of kick and stopping power, but that is nothing compared to a fully loaded hunting round.
With a hot hunting round you can expect about 22-23 pounds of recoil at the wrist. A couple of those rounds a day are enough.
I think the .357 carries about 8-10 pounds of recoil, but is still a powerhouse.
