Dude on the tracks
I was walking home tonight from the station. My walk takes me along side the railway tracks. As I got close to the path that runs alongside the tracks, I noticed that there was a train that had stopped just up ahead of me. I then noticed this man stood there - directly in front of the train. I thought that it must be an engineer or something but, as I got closer, I could see he was just some guy on the tracks, stood there in front of a train.
As I got closer, I watched him walk up to the train and rest his head on one of those bumper things they have on trains... what are they called.. can't rememebr..
Anyway, eventually the station security came and got him but it was an odd thing to see. Poor guy must have been mentally ill or trying to kill himself or both..
Just thought I'd share that with you. Anyone else ever seen anything like that?

I've seen some crazy mo-fos here in vegas. One guy was standing on a sidewalk repeatedly and violently pulling on an invisible slot machine handle.
Once while roller blading my friends and I passed a dude at a bus stop who looked fine one second and the next he was beating the **** out of himself. He boxed is head so hard that he shattered the coke-bottles he was wearing, then wandered out into traffic.
A few weeks ago one of my co-workers said that some man came into the lobby all bloody and told the secratary to call an ambulance as he had been trying to kill himself. I guess she just called the cops.
We are very secretive as a tourist based city about the number of deaths that occur each year on the strip with tourists being hit by traffic and gamblers killing themselves at casinos.

Sorry, probably pretty innapropriate for the tone of this thread: meant he had just finished stopping a train with his bare hands ala superman and just needed to put his head down for a bit...

haha. probably less expensive a habit than the real thing.
i can see people getting hit there the way they are all running out into the road combined with the way the cab drivers drive. but, gamblers killing themselves IN the casinos? in the casino itself or one of the rooms?

Strangely enough, they are called sleepers!

.: Weirded Out :.
Back in England, I used to live near a train station and a mental ward. More than once people in strange clothes would wonder around the train station shouting and generally causing a scene. Amazed they never got on the tracks.
The other station I'm near to has one of the highest deaths. So many people have got on a train that skips that station and tried to open to doors/use the emergency open. The result has been death from hitting the station, and worse, getting hit by a train coming the other direction.
Not too cool.
