    H E L P ! flv Files

    Hi,

I have a big Problem with imported flv Files!
    The Demonstration starts...everything is ok!

After 5 Sec. The Demo stops and after 5 Sec. it plays again... and so on...

How can I stream the imported flv File complete before the demo starts
    without loading....stops....loading...

    THANKS ALL

    Uwe

Sound like your server with the flv is not keeping up if I understand your arrangement...
If so either compress the movie further or find a faster server...ther seem to be plenty of movie/music sharing site around which could help with this......some windows based servers are not set up to stream flv at all!

As for not streaming I'm not sure how but I'm sure someone here will but flv is designed to be streamed .

    regards

Well streaming is dependent on both server and your connection speed.

    thanks all...

now, I have streamed it with Riva...DSL I know...
    A lot of tests...
but, is there no way to give the customer information before....and
in the meantime my flv is loading...
    For example:
Some Info Text ... 2 Minutes to load ...please wait...

Can I not use a preloader for flv Files???

You can it's complicated though.... Look at the macromedia docs on flv, you can get the loaded status I believe.

I made a dialup version and a adsl version of the same movie but some way of selecting for speed is needed...perhaps by checking the performance with a dummy download first then using this to choose which bitrate film to use.

    fun and games

Or let the end viewer decide. That's what most commercial sites do. Or they ask once and set a cookie.
