    Setup Set-up

    Hi,

I was looking through my Flash Files when I found a 58mb zip. The zip is actually a zipped folder containing 2 other zips and each countaining smaller zips, of course, winzip don't compress zipped folders, so could any suggest a better zipping software that is conventional?

Or could anyone give me the way to pack a lot into a single windows *setup*(.exe) file?

    Regards,
    Tongxn

Are you planning on storing the files, why not just burn it all onto a dvd?

I havent been here in a while.

Anyways, is it nessessary to burn your files onto a dvd. If so, why not upload all the files onto a Ftp.

From there, have someone you know with a Dvd burner to burn them onto a dvd, possible?

mmm.. I could do that but all Ftp whatever they are have a max update size. like Yahoo Briefcase could only update 10mb but im talking about 50mb of stuff here, updating at a rate of 12kbps.

Why don't you unzip all your files to seperate folders. Then you can zip them again at the highest compression. This will make very small zip files for you.
Is this not an option? Or is it too much work?

1.) you can make self extracting (.exe) executables form .zip files with a plug-in (miht be free even)

2.) I dont understand the purpose?..is it to archive for you own personal keeping? or is it to be able to transfer it to someone?

you cna use a public storage place

    like:
    www.yousendit.com
    or
    www.rapidshare.com

upload it there...give link to whoever needs it.. (wont keep it forever..eith DL limit or day limit I think)

I'll give you some storage space if you need it.

Thanks for the offer Launchpad, but I could do with my Yahoo Mail for now.

And Whispers do you actually know how to change a .zip into a .exe file with a application?

    Thanks everybody

you can change the icon using something liek res hacker....as well as add parameters to that self extracting winZip like intsructions..and a default location for it to unzip to (desktop) etc..etc
