layout/colour scheme used
Heres the site ive been working on these past few days. Im not that far along but would just like to hear some opions on the layout and colour scheme of the site before i take it further.
Is it too dull? Buttons a bit too small/not evident enough that they exist?
Its currently not far off 1mb so ill have to get some sort of compression on the go. And there is no preloader as of yet.
Constructive criticism please
Cheers!

I like it. What framerate are you using? The transitions are a bit choppy and I'm on a fast system so I'm assuming it's either framerate or you are stretching an effect across too many frames to trick the eye. When the dark grey trannies in after the orange lines it really shows. Otherwise all I can mention is I like the orange text against the lighter grey...but the larger headings that are orange come off bad against the dark grey. Looking good man. Get that size down...even if you have to onload external images or sounds.

Cheers for your help Chris.
Im using a frame rate of 12. Wasnt sure what it should be so I just left it at default. When the dark grey trannies in its just a simple fade in lasting for 7 frames. Ill change the orange text on the dark area, your right it doesnt look right.
The reason the file size is so large is the sea effect ive got going on in the banner, ill try lowing the quality of the img before adding the effect.
Is the height/width allright? Last time i made a swish website was in 2003. I rember reading someplace that 800x600 is the most common screen res. Is this still the case or have things changed? Ive done the site for use in 1024x768.
Major problem ive got though is this new active x thing. The script im using works perfectly in firefox, but in ie you still have to right click on a bar and allow content to be displayed.

Try bumping the framerate to 20 or 24 and see if that helps those alpha fades. I like the size of the layout. Fit nicely in all browser windows I tested in. In the last year I've slowly gotten away from the 800x600 layouts and have bumped to 1024x768 as my max. I'm tired of the small 800 or less stages and want more real estate these days I'm sure 800x600 is still the norm though.
As far as the activeX issue..it's got everyone by the gonads and I have seen a few fixes posted so search the forums here and you'll have a selection. Nobody seems to agree on one so it's a matter of preference. Good luck man!

I like your site especially the ripple effect sea waves, but the rectangular text box, housing the text is a bit small for my tastes. Even if you have a text scroller; IMHO, I feel 'constricted' in reading the text.
Either make the rectangular text box's height a bit longer; or make the text smaller.

A while since i last worked on it but im finally updating my site again. Ive increased the fps slightly (am i right in thinking the higher the fps then the more system resources the site uses of the visitors system?), increased the size of the text area and sorted out the file size - its now 256kb.
The scroller im using doesnt seem to be working 100% so thats somthing i can look at. Can anybody see any other issues with the site?
Cheers

Would a mod kindly move this thread to the normal site check forum please. The swish site check forum doesnt seem to get many visitors.
cheers

As a pure interface, I like it.
I'm no designer, but if I go to a site called "LA Beauty Products", I expect to see some pretty female faces, not a rippling water scene. (Although - it is a very neat effect you've done there!)
