Why is everything beta and free? Are they not confident any more about their software or just an ad trick?

Been running it for the last couple of days... it's actually not bad. I thought I'd hate the frou-frou girly interface, but it's actually quite intuitive after the second use. I'd truly hate it though if they disallow classic style view(s) though... Beta 2, I've yet to figure out how to make it look like the old versions to see if it saves on RAM usage and video card usage, whatnot.

I have been running it for 3 or 4 days now and like it alot. Haven't had any crashes or found any bugs. I like the new interface. It has taken some getting used to but it's kind of nice to have a change. I've also noticed that a lot of people find it easier to find features. I've had a few people come up and tell me that one of the features they found is so cool and that it should have been added years ago...and then I have to tell them that it's been in the menu's since Office 97

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

Having them send it to me would be nice, but I still haven't even received my USB drive. So, I doubt I'd get the CD before the actual product comes out.

    Edit: OK, and "go," MS.

That new test drive feature they are working on seems really cool. No installations.

    Wonder how it will work...flash?

I haven't gotten to deep into messing around with the beta but one thing I immediately notice is the new version of word chews up 37MB of ram while the 2k3 pro Word was only 10 Megs.

How much of that is just in the new paintjob? (which I honestly find kind of awkward)
