Big Project - Need team for Video/Youtube/MySpace/MTV Overdrive like site(s)
We have a current web project that we are bidding out and looking for the right team. We have a budget from $12,000 to $25,000 US. We have the job posted on guru.com as well.
Here is the information. If anyone is interested in the project, feel free to PM. Our development timeline is 10 weeks of development, 2 weeks of beta-testing. We have built all of the graphics for the site and it is available in PSD files.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
PHP, Flash, Database/Ecommerce Dynamic, VBulletin Customization, Experience with Multiple Servers & Databases
Must have extensive experience with Server Side flash encoding and serving. Examples and references are required. Must have a good knowledge of Vbulletin, flv video and databases.
We are willing to work with an off-site team or company.
Development Overview:
We are developing a digital online enthusiast network – a collection of websites that caters to a group of enthusiasts. Each individual website will be focused on a specific segment of the marketplace, however the strength of the network will be the ability of the managers of the network and the advertisers to deploy content, video, and advertisements to individual sites, multiple sites, or to the entire network.
The network must be scalable – new sites must be able to be added to it and it must be able to integrate seamlessly. In terms of server power, the network and databases must be designed so that additional servers can be added easily and quickly as site bandwidth and server load increase.
The content of the sites will be contained in six major segments: Articles, Message Forums, Member Profiles/Garage, Photo Gallery, Digital Television, and User-Uploaded Video. All sections of the websites will be driven by a CMS system. Some of the content—Member Profiles, Forums, and Photo Gallery—for example, will be unique to each website. Other content, such as Articles and Video may be deployed to a single site, multiple sites, or to the Entire Network. The websites and network will include complete integration of all content functions.
The user registration system is centralized – it is a “Master Registration System” – and you simply register just one time for the entire network. However, even though a user is registered with the entire network, he is not a “active member” of every website in the network. Users must actively “opt-in” to become active members of each website.
The “Digital” ad management system we desire to build (or integrate) should manage both banner advertising, video pre-roll advertising, and should have self-service capability. Requirements for banner ad management includes the ability to self serve with automated billing and credit card charging functions, serve across one site, multiple sites, or the entire network. Video ad management will include the ability to deploy commercials dynamically via pre-roll or post-roll, across one site, multiple sites, or all websites. Integration with billing is a requirement. Must have the ability to automatically bill credit card monthly using a payment gateway, or to generate a PDF invoice and e-mail it automatically on a pre-set schedule.
We are looking for a company or team who has already had experience with and developed a flash-based video site such as youtube.com or flickr.com, etc. Please provide examples of at least 1 website you have developed of that type, or samples of your work that are directly related.
We are moving forward in the evaluation process, but your company must have video/web based experience.
Experience with On2's Flix engine is preferred.
When PM'ing about the job, please make sure you include the following:
(1) Do you have any experience with working with VBulletin, integrating it with a CMS system, etc.
(2) What specific experience do you have with flash video encoding software, server side video encoding, and video serving? (services like YouTube.com, and the 80 other copies)
(3) Will you be able to properly forecast server and bandwidth demands and impliment these demands into the system?
(4) Are you available for maintenance and future upgrades? We are looking for a long term business relationship.
Thanks

Your proposal is very confusing. I've read it twice now. I think it's a case of (please don't take this the wrong way), you know and understand 'your' project and ideas and can write a lot of items down, but we dont. You could you exaplain in 2 sentences what it is you want to sell and another 2 sentences saying how you want to achieve that?
Thanks,
And I'll review your proposal again.
Best Regards,

David,
Sorry for the confusion. I'll see if I can make this more simple.
We are looking to HIRE a programming team/individual.
We are building 12 websites (for starters) that are enthusiast websites. Each website will be essentially identical to each other other than than the graphic/skin package.
We want to hire someone to build the CMS/Video/Myspace/Profile/User Registration System backend which will will control the sites.
We will build the graphics. Once the first website is built, it can be "copied" with new graphics by us.
We are really only looking to have someone develop the single website plus the backend systems to control it (and additional sites).
The CMS/Ad Systems, etc., must be able to deploy articles to all of the sites at once, so it must be designed as such from the beginning.
Hope that helped.

Thanks, but it's too big a job for me. But your second post did clarify what you required. I'm sure it will help others. Good luck in finding the right person.
Best Regards,
David
