[RESOURCE] Flash Dreamer - Game Development Blog

Hey peeps, lately I have become quite annoyed at the fact I haven't actually finished or started a game in a very long time. And I put it down to lack of motivation. When I do start a game it never seems to get finished. Unless its for a client. And im sure other people are having the same problem. So I decided to do something about it. That’s why I started the Flash Dreamer - Game Development Blog. Its a blog of current works by myself and a resource blog. I will post current stages of different games im working on so people can comment and test, also I want to make it a community based resource site. So I will post source code (mostly written in AS2) and optimization tips when ever I stumble across them. Also any articles/tutorials I find that are relevant to flash/game design. So if your up for a read every now and then.

There is currently only one post, as I started it today. And it pretty much just outlines the nature of the blog. But I will hope to post as regularly as I can. Hopefully weekly.

Hope that this blog not only helps myself but others in their quest to finish and publish a game.

I hope it will help you to finish the games
Then again, blogging can become time consuming too so you have even less time to work on the games.

Hahaha. too true ^_^ that's a good one...

anyway hooligan2001, i wish you good luck with your current personnal project(s), and i hope that blog will help you more than the opposite...

"I want to make it a community based resource site"

Do you mean by any chance that people will also be able to post their WIP projects? Yeah, it would be interesting to see a PIMP-only blog with interesting game projects and previews (mmh, a little bit like the stimuNation blogs but even more public/open, if you know what i mean)

Thanks a lot guys, means a lot to see some of the big hitters of flash game dev looking in. Really appretiate all the comments.

Tonypa: Haha very true, just thought blogging would make me think like people are expecting me to finish the game so i will finish them :P, i seem to be able to do it fine for clients but for myself nope

Marrmotte: Yeah pretty much. Want to create a decent resource so people can check in and see whats in the works from various people as well as mine. I think it also builds up anticipation for a game as well seeing it in development. Also want to post topics on how certain looks are achieved through actionscript/graphics and so on (eg tutorials and interesting finds). The whole format of the blog may change down the track but for now thats what i hope to achieve.

Gloo pot: Thanks for the motivation mate sure will help.

fil_razorback: Really? cool do you have a link? Might use google language convertor to check it out

Thanks again mates, and hope the blog sort of inspires people to finish there games too.

Very cool idea. This could potentially be one of my most commonly visited sites, the open source and unfinished projects, just cool.

And I think it would be neat to see other peoples unfinished projects and share your own as well...

    *cough*

    Hey Hooligan,

Me and Jonny started a development blog quite a while ago for our game. It certainly helps to keep you motivated, at least at the beginning!

I will add your blog to our links if you like...

Heh Hooligan, that would be interesting to post links to all sort of half-done games on the web.
