My blog, a year on...
Please don't consider this spam, y'all know of my site anyway I hope!
Well my photoblog has been going for a year now and my visits have gone from 856 last July to 2142 in December and 4131 for the last month! Nothing compared to Miles' stats I imagine but it makes me glad to know that so many people like to see my pics.
Even after a year I can't help but feel that i've yet to settle into a style, is this a bad thing? I feel i've been taking novelty shots and forgetting the basics of creating a good image. I've been trying to creating images that look good on screen, and can be appreciated within a few seconds.
I ask again. is that a bad thing?
My dream is to get into photo journalism (degree in Photography, postgrad in Photojournalism, if the plan goes smoothly ) and i'm thinking maybe I should start taking it a little more seriously. Taking photos that actually say something would be a start but I don't want lose the exciting, creative aspect to photography.
I don't really know what i'm trying to say, any suggestions would be great
Anyway, i'd love to know what you think of my years work (good or bad, i'm looking for critisism here too )
Robb.

I honestly don't see why you can't do both. Taking pics that say something probably requires planning. Exciting and creative is spontaneous. I don't think you can plan for the event, but you can make a plan to be camera ready for it when it presents itself. In the mean time, you can get on with the planning of pics that say something.
I've found myself carrying my camera with me almost everywhere I go now. Even down to the corner store for my morning coffee. Maybe it'll mean less shots lost. But I also plan out some picture taking events I want to do. In fact, I'll be going out soon to shoot an old abandoned farm nearby as soon as the light is better.

Letting others see the world with your eyes is something very special and each of us has his own way to look at things...spontaneous or planned does not make a difference.
So Go Rob Go!!...show us your view of the things!
Just don't expect that everybody agrees

You're right! I guess i'm being quite stupid worrying about this, I seem to get a fair few visitors just by doing what I do. So I may as well stick to it!

Nice blog Rob. I must have spent an hour in there.

Nice blog Robb, is that page views or unique visitors? Interesting stats to compare are also the average length of time each visitor stays - mine dropped from over 6 minutes to under 2 I'm getting boring - and also the average time per page to see how long they look at the images.

I'm not sure if I can gauge how long they stay for, what stats software do you use?
From what I can tell from this, it's unique visits. My referrers list sucks, I need to go on a link exchange warpath

I haven't updated my blog in so long(lack of a good camera) it is so sad. Hopefully soon I will be in posession of a rebel XT again.
But Robb, yours is very well done. I really want to use that template but I don't wanna copy you I wish Pixelpost had more to choose from...
You are king of vertical shots

I use AwStats, just incorporated with my hosting. You can always just embed coding from www.statcounter.com or somewhere else in each page and it will do everything for you.
Nice work on the number of page views
