Moonlight shadow
Well that's something I'd never like to go through again...
I had lunch in a local pub yesterday with a friend. Spaghetti carbonara, nothing really too devilish. Later on, in the evening, I was driving my friend home and I felt horribly sick. So I pulled over and threw up (sick) my lunch on the pavement next to the car. We weren't far from my house, so I drove slowly there and had a lie down and a drink of water. It didn't work much because I threw up again, and again, and again. Eventually I ran out of food to throw up, so the stomach acids started to come up. My friend phoned a help-line provided by our health service and went through the symptoms. Put it down to food poisoning and that if things keep as they are, we should call the emergency services.
Things didn't get better, so after throwing up for the ninth time and unable to move, my friend called 999 and an ambulance took me to my local hospital. They hooked me up to a drip and gave me various injections and pills. My parents arrived soon after, took my friend home, and stayed with me in the accident & emergency centre until about 1am, when I was discharged. On a course of anti-biotics for a week and feeling pretty weak now.
Food poisoning sucks. Once I've got the energy, I'm going to call my local council and have them do an inspection on the pub.

Ick, that's terrible. Hope you feel better, man. What did you have to drink? They had this segment here in the US about contaminated ice.

Oddly enough, one of the injections was put into my arse cheek. I'm not really sure why, but I guess there's a good reason...

The doctor thought you were cute.

And thats what you get for eating pub food...

Didn't do it.
I got meningitis when I was 12 - threw up every hour for about 2 days before they took me to the hospital.
They had to give me a spinal tap to determine what variant it was. Luckily, I had the less-lethal variety.
That's something I'd rather not do again. I would much rather have been puking out bad carbonara...

Hospital? Crybaby. I had food poisoning a few months ago. Went to the doctor, got some cipro, sipped water for a few days and ate saltines.
Of course the agonizing pain in my intestines wasn't all that fun.

Puking up stomach acids.....we call that the Dry Heaves. I immediately down a glass of water so that there is something to come up. The only thing worse that throwing up is throwing up nothing.
Glad to hear you are feeling better asheep.

Damn dudes, that sounds horrible. I always try to remember those times so that I'm thankful for just being able to have a normal day. You never realize how nice it is to be able get up and walk around until you cant.
As a young kid (5-10) I used to get real bad ear-aches. They stopped but a couple years later I got a bad one and my mom gave me some really old medication. I remember waking up in the middle of the night paralized from the neck down. I still had motor control but even the thought of moving caused pain. All I could do was yell for my parents, who got me to the bathroom and had me purge my stomache. I was ok the next day but it was scary as hell. Never wanna go through that again.

It's not always where you eat.
Worst case of food poisoning I ever had was duck under glass at a four star

I always described that as trying to throw up your foot. I use the water trick too, saves your throat from getting thrashed.

I think that's one advantage of living in the third world I guess we develop some kind of defense against bad food, because i've eaten all kinds of crap, and never got nothing more than just some emergency restroom visits.

Not PWD
I thought dry heaves were when nothing came out, EVP. Stomach acids is throwing up bile.

It's best to puke in front of other people, or even on them. Let them enjoy the fun too.

THat happened to me at a Nickelback concert...and suprisingly enough, it wasn't while they were playing. And I'll tell you it definitely was not fun for me.

I went onboard a new navy ship as Marine guard. A bunch of newbies, going to sea for the first time. The rule was, if you puked, you cleaned it up. If you didn't but laughed at someone who did, you cleaned it up. Try and clean up someone else puke without adding to the mess.
No, I did't laugh, and I didn't eat the lunch they served just before leaving the dock, either.
Chili.
Still, I've seen some drunks puke just from one not so drunk guy making puking noises.
