[beta]Cleaner 2
Hi,
Getting to the point where I've played the game a million times too many, so I'm posting a beta on here to try and get some perspective.
All suggestions / crits are welcome, plus I'm keen to know what fps you're all getting. It's a basic jump 'n' squish, use arrow keys to get about. The scrolling engine is based on andre michelle's ( getting to grips with that was probably the most valuable lesson I've had in flash ).
At the mo it's restricted to one level, but the hi-scores are working.
Play!
Cheers,
Al

Very nice
I did not find any problems, it ran at good 30 fps whole time.

Cool!, lovely pixels, got a fps 28-31.
and just because you want critics:
Allthough a game should have some kind of challenge in it, I found the friction a bit frustrating sometimes, especially trying to land on single blocks and elevators,
Eventually I get used to it, but maybe you could put it a fraction higher. Well, see for yourself, will love your game anyway.

It looked very polished. Not my style of game, but it did look very well done. A couple of things though. I did not like the jumping or the falling. I thought he had too fast of a jump and too slow of a fall. Also, why is it that when a platform moves under your feet, you don't move with it also?

yeah, cool little game, nice original graphics, i agree with TheLostGuru, you gotta make the player stick to the moving platforms, its just nice to have a break and relax on a calm safe moving platform

CRT Boy
running 38-40 fps for me, and the sprite animation is so smooth, nice work man.

Thanks for the comments guys, very encouraging. I'll tweak the friction and speed a bit more, see if I can get it to feel more natural.
Having non-sticky moving platforms makes it more challenging, although I admit it can be a little frustrating. Bit concerned sticky moving platforms will make it a tad easy...
Anyway, thanks again for trying it out, shouldn't be long before i get the final game out.

Windows 2000

runnin' about 20, whereas on Linux with FF twas about 30-ish

383,890,620 polygons
very nice and smooth game.
two minor things that really struck my eye:
1) you can't jump on sloped tiles - but they happen to be on edges a lot - so I tried to jump and nothing happend
2) not moving with the moving tiles (mentioned before)

Is this a tile based game, did you some some vector maths to calcualte the collisions on the curved surfaces?
Any hoo, i played your first one and this is an awsome improvment! The sound realy makes it worth while and it is now deffernatly not as cramped...
Good Work!!!

Hi Gloo Pot,
It's still very much a tile based game and all the platform collisions are vector based too. The engine has a lot more potential to it ( which I hope to use more of in my next game) , but I wanted to keep this game simple, quick and fun.
Good to hear you like the game and see it as an improvement over my last platformer! Technically it's a big leap for me and should provide a decent base to make new games from.

ngfx: I love the slope and i think it was purposely made so that you cant jump on the slope, only a guess actually.
24 fps

Hello, Earthlings...
Looks good! Consistent graphics idea, playability and everything add up to a pretty good game. All my dislikes have already been stated above.
