Text slowdowns
Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with my static texts (which are masked) that are slowing down considerably my Flash movie once exported. I've tried using all different types of anti-aliasing to see if that would change anything but no.
Is this normal or is there anything I can do to improve perfomance ?
I'm using Flash 8 and I've got my scene set up as so:
Within a MC I've got 3 layers: the Actions layer, a Mask layer then the Text layer. The text has been converted to a Graphic and is at the moment set to "Anti-Alias for animation" and the mask is just a rectangle moved by using a shape tween. Not quite sure if this is the best setup to mask texts !!!!!
Here's a link to the site which is W.I.P: http://thebluemug.free.fr/aerofil/
You'll have to click on one of the links located at the bottom. When the text starts appearing if you rollover any of the other links you'll see that everything is just slowes down WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY to much.
Thanks for the help.

i didnt mean the slowdown seems ok, i meant it doesnt slowdown at all (well visually anyway)

You might consider using a motion tween rather than a shape tween. Shape tweens are more taxing on the processor.

Dudeqwerty, i'm surprised you say that it dosen't slow down at all. On my Pc, if I publish the movie witout any of the text layers, all the arrow animations on the menu play fine but as soon as I put the text layers in the clip, while the text is being displayed, if I try to roll over on one of the menu buttons, all the animations slow down. It's bearable, but I was hoping to be able to speed things up.
RDoyle, i've tried replacing with a motion tween before, and there's no difference to be honest, unfortunatly
I think i'll just leave it as is. Thx again.
