Flash Video Player
Just about every video website has the flashplayer now, which is great, because its fast, simple, works on all computers and browsers and gives you more control than the windows media player. The only problem is the quality of the video. Anyone know why the video is quality is so crap? Is there a way to improve it?

Do you think a magic fairy does all of that!?  Speed = less data to transmit = downsampled video = poor video quality.

To en extent. When you convert video to FLV you have compression options.

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

I think that is the biggest problem. I have seen some Flash video online that looks pretty good. If you take for instance YouTube though. Most of those videos were filmed on cheap home camcorders and even cellphones and then compressed to nothing.

I havn't really messed with the new on2 codec much but if its anything like sorenson, its about the compression settings and the bit rate. If you allow more bits per second, you'll get closer to the original.

on2 vp6 2 pass vbr of sorenson and flix ... get the license.
The compressor work in square cell of 16x16 px so get something that got 8x8 or 16x16 in ratio size.

VP6 is actually pretty damn good. Most of these sites have people submitting stuff that's already compressed as WMV and MPEG, and they don't do top-quality VP6, so you've got artifacts being compressed further. GI-GO.

The best compressor I've found so far is sv1 (now discontinued)
sv2 is good but it's nothing like sv1
The reason sv2 lost compression levels was event broadcasters in flv

It seems google has better quality than youtube, but they still stream just as fast. That probably has something to do with their servers though.
So, what is the best browser videoplayer?
