if ( rude ){ then what ? }
how do you guys handle rudeness on these forums ?
I mean you try to help, even though some of the questions are pretty dumb.
You send them links to tutorials, or suggest they read a section in the Help Files.
They'll often reply with venom, suggesting that you are patronising them, or tell you that the tutorial or Help File is crap, and it's all your fault that they still can't get things working.
I'm a fairly patient guy, but just lately I've felt like telling them to go shove it up their ass and whistle Dixie.
How do most of you respond ?

I know what you mean. I don't know who some of these people think they are, or who they think we are. It's almost like they expect us to come and help them as if it's just a job to us. They don't understand that we're just like them (granted, a little kinder) and should be afforded the same respect as they would give anyone else.
Even the small things like a "Hey, wow, thanks a lot, I really appreciate the help" mean a lot, too. Too many people ask for help then bail when they get what they want.
If you feel like someone's being a complete a-hole, just leave the thread. They'll learn. Most members here have pretty good memories and take note of who to avoid.

Start locking threads where they start showing rudenes. That'd be an excellent start, it'll show em that we dont tolerate rudeness towards helpful members.

dude, just ignore it. you're the better person by offering help. and it's much appreciated. as a mod, I'm normally targeted for most any other reason than "niceness", but when I'm being nice and they get all huffy-puffy, forget 'em.

yup, just ignore it. I pretty much stopped going to Site check for this very reason.

If they come too bad, don't answer any more. The worst you can do is fall for them and become rude yourself. Fortunately, in my experience they are the minority.

There will always be people ungrateful for everything. If you give them a million dollars, they wanted a million and one. It doesnt matter.
Yeah, people should not post things for critique if they dont really want to hear critisizm. Whatever though.

See, that's the problem. certain people post their site in critique forums, not for critisism, but for praise. If they don't get praise, they automatically get defensive because dthey didnt' get what they were looking for.

That may be true, but not always.
The problem is that there are people out who make destructive comments only. hanratty21's comment list is a typical example. If I don't like something in a site I say what I don't like and how to improve. Those who say "It sucks" suck themselves.
