Kill the Smiley
I am using my kids computer. One of them installed some smiley thing that has attached itself to the cursor. So now this annoying blue smiley is always next to my now pint size pointer and it twirls around and winks and is generally very disturbing. I have uninstalled everything remotely suspicious. I looked in my startup items and see nothing out of the ordinarty.
Any help is appreciated. I must get rid of the smiley.

Make sure it wasn't something called "Comet Cursors." Their site / "service" is known to cause a lot of problems. Sometimes their site tries to gain access to your system by probing for open ports.
Look in add/remove programs and the registry for either Comet Cursor or Comet Systems.

Reason #124267 if I ever have kids they will have their own computer that I will never look at in fear of the horrors they did to it.

Fear something getting onto the network and messing your computer up!
If that ever happened to me, they'd each get a suitcase and have exactly 10 minutes to pack whatever they can before they get sent off to live at the orphaninch.

That's why it is their own computer.
On another note I decided to look into anything everything I can possibly do to lock this computer down, or at least crack it wide open so I can monitor everything going down with it.

what about using a shell replacement, like blackbox (http://www.bb4win.org/news.php ) so you control what icons, cursors, wallpaper, apps, etc, they have access to?
