A bird feeder looks like a nice way to lure birds in close...these are great Geezer - thumbs up.

Most of the birds up my way are very timid. I think I would need to get serious and build a hide to get shots like yours.

Insanity is just a point of view. After all, the world looks pretty normal through your own underpants.

You might be surprised. I'm really not familiar with Australian birds, but there seems to be many varieties of smaller birds here that can be coaxed right into your hand, if you take the effort to be out there all the time. They just have to get use to you. I have a Downey woodpecker at another feeder taking peanuts right out of my fingers. This is just incredible to me. I never would have believed it. So when the feeder here in my yard started getting activity, one of the first birds to show up was a pair of Downies. And yesterday, I walked within two or three feet of one of them before it paid any attention to me.

But a hide is a very good tool, and my birding book says that a car is a fine mobile hide. They see a lump, not a person. Lumps aren't any threat.

Thanks el-ig. The tits don't even like the feeder, they prefer the seeds laid out on something flat.
