I can't even cook toast. But, I watch those too. Except Alton Brown. He knows what he's talking about but the little hee-hee skits he does drive me nuts. It's like americas funniest home videos humor.

Same. Switching back and forth between that and HGTV usually.

Change the channel you metros!
Heh jk, I used to watch a lot of food channel and I still stop at alton brown if he's on. I think Ze Frank is his twin.
But seriously it got to the point where I realized, "I'm never going to cook any of this crap!" One day when I've actually got time to go utensil shopping and take gourmet course I'll start watching more.

Haha, I've tried a few things. One of the big things I'm working up to trying is Fondant. I see that stuff used over and over in the food network challenges and finally have to give it a go. Just need to secure some corn syrup, first.
I wish Rachel Ray would have been paired off with Flay, then they would have taken Batali and Giada down, but I guess they wanted Giada and Batali (Italian) to be paired with the two Americanized chefs (Flay / Ray) to make it even. I just don't really prefer some of the stuff Batali cooks. I'm just wondering how Rachel will perform. You never really see her cooking anything like Batali / Flay / De Laurentiis. Her meals are usually fairly simple. Maybe that will give her an edge since they only have an hour.
As for Alton, I used to think he was a bit over the top, but after watching him more often, I find his wisdom compensates for some of the bad jokes, though I find him humorous.
Anyone else excited about the new season of "The Next Food Network Star?" I like it a lot better than Bravo's Top Chef.

Alton Brown and Tony Bourdain are the only two worth watching on the Food Network. Maybe Rachel Ray if you turn the volume down and she jumps up and down a bit.

I cant make anything I see there and will probably never try. But, I've learned a lot. Helps me consider more adventurous things when I eat out. It's also become kind of a ritual between my wife and I. "I wouldn't eat that. Me neither. I might try that some time. What?!"
Batali is actually my favorite from that channel. I'd like to try his resteraunt in New York some day. Anyone here eat there? Some of his dishes I couldnt handle yet. Like things with snails. But Lobster tempura... mmm.
I have to question Rays chef status. She just seems like more of a presenter than an actual inventor of dishes.
We're looking forward to the next food star series also. That one made the DVR list. Tho, I thought Hanz should have won.

Believe it or not, she did pose in lingerie (sp?) for some magazine recently. Fishnet stockings, etc.
I thought Bourdains show was on Bravo or something. Not Food Network. He's always ripping on Rachal Ray.

Tony Bourdain is awesome, that's one of the few food shows that I'll watch.

You had a three-way with some girls from Ipanema and figured they were skanks?
Don't know what that's got to do with asking locals about anything, but good story none the less.

You really don't want me to be elected to congress do you.

I was under the impression that being sexually permissive was a requirement for congressional election.

That idiot freak that won that last "Next Food Network Star", Guy Fietti, couldn't even keep his show.....he's under contract so they had to give him a gadget show. What a loser! I think they missed the boat not grabbing up that Simply French chick...
Genesis, what do you say the next one they have we BOTH send in some video...?

I think about it everytime I see a show like that, but I know I'd be the first one kicked off (if I'd even make it on there), since I'm a vegetarian and wouldn't be able to bring myself to do many of the challenges.
Now Food Network Challenge, on the other hand would be easy. $10,000 for building things.

i dont know. could be a market niche for a vegetarian show.

You are correct, he used to be on the Food Network, he's on the Travel channel now.

Definitely check out the one he did unintentionally from Beirut when the bombing started. I recorded it, I'll see if I can squeeze out an MPEG or something for you.
