    [game] Asteroid Field

    Hey,

I have just finished my new game. I've been learning some new stuff in flash and I thought I would try and get some feedback on it.

    Game Name: Asteroid Field
    Game Link: Gamestack.org
Instructions: Hold the left mouse button to make your ship fly. If you let go of the mouse your ship will start falling down.
Description: You must maneuver your space ship through a dangerous asteroid field. You will get a speed boost every 400 points.

Thank you to all who check out the game.

I always like these kind of games, not sure why, there's nothing to them. Just simple fun I guess.

Collisions feel a bit harsh, feels like there's a big ol' bounding box around the rocks / player, so when you get hit it feels more like you've going to be hit and can't avoid it, rather than tons of stone slamming into your ship ( An explosion would be a nice pay off, rather than dropping you straight to the submit your score screen ).

Presentation is varied, you have that nice 3-2-1 font going on, and then a system font in the game itself.

Could you render out some spinning rocks rather than just using _rotation ?

    No sound ?

The countdown would be nicer if the starfield started fading in during it, at the moment it's a bit too abrupt, going straight from countdown into the game, they don't feel connected ( Esp. with that in-game font ).

Could be a really great little game, but atm needs a lot more love.

    Squize.

I have changed the collision a little bit. should give you more of a avoiding feeling then bounding boxes.

I have made all of the game's font the same except the buttons, and the highscore part. (As they need to be more readable).

I am not that great at sounds so I probably will not add sounds unless I can find some free ones.

Hunt for some free ones mate, sound brings a game to life.

You wouldn't have a game with no graphics

where have i seen this game before?
the idea is clearly unoriginal, but you pull it off better than most ive seen

if theres anything you should add, its sound and interactivity
if you dont want to make it any more complex, then load it chock full of special effects and sounds. an example: make it play a "whoosh" sound when barely avoiding rocks

unfortunately, i dont like these kinds of games (not enough control for me)

    Very Nice simple game
THE GOOD: Simple addictive game,Not original but still very fun, nice graphics, has a wide variety of difficulty, nice font that suits game, good background animation
THE BAD: imo Seems a little too simple (does get a lot harder but can also get boring after repeated play), not many animations
CONCLUSION: Very nice simple game. I've seen some better versions (gameplay was better) and this game seems to lack cool effects and animations but overall I think it's a fun game.
    MY RATING: 3/5
    GOOD WORK
    P.S. Got 30fps on average

When I tried to submit my score it said "Invalid Game Information was received."

Fun game though, I like it more than other games of this type. I got 3834 points Also, the "level up" text is kinda distracting, having it a little more transparent might be nice.

I liked the level up text, put the pressure on. Actually made me nervous like wario ware (on gamecube, i think...) as the game sped up faster and faster.
