    [fun] Epicycles

Made this simple program today. If you have a rotating circle rotate a point, you have an epicycle (think planet orbiting star). If you draw out the movement of a point on the outer circle (planet), you can get a weird shape.

Change the radius of the two circles using the input boxes at the bottom of the screen. Hypocycloid is a circle rolling inside a big circle, an Epicycle is a circle rolling on the outside of a big circle, while a cycloid is a circle orbiting a point.

Pause will pause. Click again to play. Clear will reset the stage. View will show the circles drawing the path.

You can get some very strange shapes. By default it will draw a three-leaf clover as cycloid, a 4-leaf clover as Epicycloid and a square with rounded corners as a Hypocycloid.

Hey, very nice game Simple mechanics but quite fun. There are some typos (action is spelled acion on main menu), maybe someone who is more fluent in english can point the errors better than me.

    Neat idea.

Wish I had thought of it. :P

Another interesting thing would be that with n circles.

Try setting the speed of the second to 180, or 120 :P

nice, have you tried using different amounts of circles or different methods of drawing, like using sine and cosine waves.

Nice one Walnoot. I just made it for fun, was bored, and remembered the old drawing thing I used to have as a kid, where you could draw different shapes using circles inside circles (can't remember what it was called).
