    [Beta] Control

I've just finished with this game . This is also a game that I used to play on my TI-86. It is called Control. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Awesome concept, absolutely love it, but I think it starts off far too hard - there should be a difficulty curve.

The font in dynamic text boxes at game over screen looks different then other texts. You may want to embed the font for those 2 boxes.

Thanks everyone to taking a look. It sounds like it might start off too hard. I didn't realize. I guess I've just been playing it so I'm used to the difficulty. I will back it off a little. What color of lines did you get to before you died? Thanks Tonypa for the heads up. It should be fixed now.

That's a really awesome game but I agree that it's really difficult. I played it several times and only got to the blue spot once. Some instructions would be nice. Also, instead of lives you could change it to health and depending on how long you remain on the bad it hurts your. Another thing would be, you could change the rate of damage as you get furthur on although, you would want to put a limit on that. A change of speed might be cool as well. Changing the number of balls that appear will also add to the levels of difficulty.

Very very hard, I didn't know there were multiple colors if that tells you anything...

I like it though, a nice concept and it's well executed.

Thanks again for the feedback. I have decreased the speed the game starts at.

Captain_404 - The lines change from black to dark blue to green, to purple, ect..

Swak - Interesting ideas, I'm not sure if I will change the lives to health, but I like the idea. The game is setup so that when you make it through the entire course, it starts over, but the speed increases.

johnnyblazedx - any ideas for spicing it up?

    Very nice game.
Very simple, original idea, and it kept me playing for a while

I wouldn't change anything (except better instructions are needed imo: took me a little while to understand how to play), but if you do, try to keep the game simple (because that's one of the games best aspects).

with only 2 controls, spicing it up might be hard, especially with concentration being the main point of the game, its not exactly action filled as is

but, when in doubt, use powerups! there are plenty options available:
wider/thinner paddle (im not sure, but does the game collide against your whole paddle or not?)
    bigger/smaller space bettween paddles
    faster/slower moving paddle
    faster/slower gameplay
more/less erratic lines (i assume you use vector hitTest's here, so you just have to scale the y of your bg)
    more/less lives
    invulnerability
    vulnerability(THAT might suck a bit)
and so on and so forth...

easy to implement, but can they spice up the game? i dont know

Thanks Viza and Trogdor. What instructions are needed? I've just always known how to play so, what part does a player not understand right off the back? If I changed it to "Use the up and down arrow keys to avoid collision with the lines" would that clarify things better?

I think trogdor worded exactly what I was thinking in terms of spicing it up.

Yeah I agree with Trogdor. Powerups would be good but because you movement is retricted youd either have to or not have to get them.
I'd like to know aswell when a line is about to end or begin. After I did the square bit i wasnt expecting the line.
