What's Wrong With Old Threads?

Why does everyone complain when someone "bumps" an ageing thread? There's nothing wrong with old threads. In fact, if it's old, it's probably a good quality piece of reading because it's been around this long. Do you think we should abandon old people in a desert or place a bullet in their skulls just because they're old? Well... maybe we should but with threads, it's different.

Old threads are like wine.
Old wine.
Valuable.

But some of them are bumped for one or two word posts like:

• LOL
• I agree.
• Yeah... (blah, blah... ok, more than two words, but the first word is about all that ever counts in some of the BS reasons/convos after a bump sometimes)

It's nothing against using search and adding to a thread, but a 4 year old thread about Flash 5 and a president that's no longer in office full of dead links to stuff that doesn't even exist any longer... well.

Its fine to reserect old threads for a vaild reason, but as Gerbs says, to just spam, confuse members or pointlessly top old threads, its not good.
