Filter > Render > Lens Flare

This will be kind of an experiment really, but I'd like to try to come up with some quality photomanipulations that use the lens flare. It doesn't have to be an incredibly innovative use of it or anything, but you do have to use lens flare(s), and you do have to make them look good. Type, size, angle and intensity is of course up to you.

    Rules:
    • 3 volleys each
    • Each image must retain some aspect of the previous volley
    • 3-4 days turnaround
    • Must use at least one lens flare in each image
    • Any size you want.
    • Do not go smaller than 600x400 or you'll be ejected from the match and beaten with an animal carcass.

Very cool imagery dude. Me likey.

If you don't end up with an opponent on this battle Big O, if you could extend the time between images to about 5 days, I might take you up on this one.

    Thanks guys!

If anyone wants to try this out but you're worried that lens flares will be an annoyance, don't worry about it. As you can see, they don't have to be a huge part of the image, just visible.

gerbick, if you decide you wanna do this don't worry about the turnaround.

very cool. i like the quilt/matress in the upper part- nice touch

how come you are stipulating lens flare as a rule? not sure i understand the
importance or relevance of it. and in this image in particular i think it adds
nothing. but maybe that's just me

Lens flare has a bad wrap, the point of this battle is to show that (or find out whether) it can be a positive thing. The problem with this image is that depending on the monitor you are using, you may hardly be able to see it at all, and even if you can, as you say it adds nothing. Whatever. It may be a bad idea, but if there were no bad ideas, then we would never appreciate the really good ones. Like rollcavas.

That sounds great squid! Go ahead and volley and we'll see if gerbs is up for it. If not, we'll do the full 3 images each, but if we make it a three-way, we'll do 2 each.

would have liked to have maybe changed the colour scheme a bit more then o's volley but it sorta just worked out this way.

i will take any criticism but if anyone comments on how cliche' it is to put the previous volley in a picture frame isn't intelligent enough to use the internet.

naw... I'll let you two amazing people volley us to entertainment. keep up the good work.

I think the only critique I'd have for the two of you is that you both got that olive drab/brown palette from Doom/Quake down a little two well. The text in your image squidlips should have been sharper. The blurred edge took too much focus away from it, and drives my eyes towards other details that are in stark contrast - such as how sharp the border is around the image, but not the background picture nor the text are as sharp.

So, I'm not crazy about this. In fact, I don't really like it at all, but I'm looking at a busy weekend and then another week of work and school so it is what it is.
