Loungers - Edit Button
Just a temporary sticky. JPnyc posted an announcement, but EVP's pushed it back so I'll just do this.
As you may have noticed, the edit button is now timed. Due to abuse / misuse of the edit feature by some members, the administration was forced to impose a time limit of 10 minutes on each post. Once the limit is reached, you will no longer be able to edit a post, however you can contact a moderator (preferred), super moderator (preferred), or administrator and they will make the changes for you.
Note: Please do not contact moderators with requests to change insignificant grammatical / spelling errors. Proofread your posts before making the initial submission and you'll be fine.

... and another shot in the bum to the world's dyslexics.
What kind of abuse are we talking about here?
Just curious?
Im going to edit this post a million times before my time runs out

Older disgruntled members have been deleting the content from each of their posts. I suppose that funny comment I always think of immediately after hitting submit will have to be a double post.

Yeah, just members going back and editing out all of the content from either all or a good majority of their posts. I know it may seem unfair to impose the limit on trusted members as well, but the problem is that we can't predict the who / when / or why aspect of it. It really hurts the community when people do that because it can render threads completely unreadable and it also takes away from the searchable database.
The ten minute time limit is only a tentative value. If it's recognized that more time is needed, the administration will make it so.

I think that even 24 hours would solve the problem that you are trying to fix. Sometimes i'll post and then go to lunch and notice a mistake when I come back and that is a lot longer than 10 minutes.

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

Yea! sometimes i post alot of stuff without even thinking about what it is i am saying.
Now, by the time someone calls me on something i posted earlier, it is too late to go back and change it.
Is this FK'n conspiracy to try to make me think before i post?
jk
EDIT: what if i click on edit(in new tab) as soon as i am done posting?
If I let the edit window set open for days before editing the post, then click submit changes, will the changes be posted?

Unlikely, I assume that the script will check against the original upload datestamp before uploading an edit...

Your complaining about this being a burden when you don't even have any real posts?

As far as I know, the time limit was raised a few weeks ago...
