    Green Tea

Lately I have been trying to drink less coffee due to health issues. But I hate not drinking a hot drink in the morning so I have been drinking the HT (Green Tea) brand you can get at Starbucks @ B&N. The Chinese Flower one to be specific. Smells like pez in the can.

Anyway, It tastes like crap. How do you people drink green tea. I add 3 packets of sugar to take the bitter off but i'm lost past that. Any suggestions to make aquiring a taste for the stuff go easier?

Yeah, stay away from Starbucks. They are just a money machine. You can go broke buying imported tea if you want, but there is some really good stuff sitting on your supermarket shelf. And it's a little weird, but a bit of milk will smooth out the bitter. It's not for everyone, though.

get a box of tea bags from the groceries and make your own tea.

I like honey and milk with my tea.

I will try other brands I think after I finish this tin. I only bought it at Starbucks due to being there for coffee lol. I love Starbucks coffee, It is the only addiction I have left but I do need to cut back.
Thank you for the suggestions everyone. And Lefteye, Even if I can't acquire a taste for it I will suck it up and enjoy the benifits lol. Now to raid Arbys for honey packets to keep at work

those migranes are just a way of telling you to drink more tea more often.

the organic section in my local grocery store has way better teas than the coffee/tea aisle. Many of them are more herbal teas than the standard Earl Grey's and chamomile.

Although, be warned, some are really spicy tasting, especially the ones that claim to make your head cold better. i bought one that tasted like i was licking a rusty pipe coated in battery acid...but it did clear my sinuses

Yeah, generally the pain is only supposed to occur when you stop.

Kristi just got me a new tea pot the other day, it has a build in tea trap. Pretty slick for free leaf teas like my favorite Special Gunpowder, but that is a black tea.

And remember that the English and Scottish ruined tea by adding milk to it. The milk actually kills all the antioxidants in tea...

i've just started drinking green tea recently. to begin with i didn't really enjoy the taste, but it's really grown on me. i just drink it as is. fairly weak (otherwise i find it a bit bitter)

i started drinking it becasue i wanted to take a flask of hot drink with me for on my way to work, but i like my tea milky and milky tea tastes like **** when it's been in a thermos flask.

but yeah, stick with it and the taste might well grow on you

I hadn't heard that, so rather than asking you to type out more info I decided to do a quick google. Apparently it has been found that milk doesn't adversely affect the antioxidants in black tea. I'm glad I'm not a doctor. Trying to keep up to date on every little medical development would take every second of your spare time or end up driving you insane.

I generally prefer it without, but it's nice to know you don't have to sacrifice that benefit if I ever do decide to use it.

milk in tea... sacrilegious. I have Caribbean family that does that due to the Brit influence still in the area.

as far as green tea, I use Celestial Seasonings and/or Tazo Chinese Green Tea and squirt a very small amount of raw (locally cultivated) clover honey... not even a teaspoon of the sweet stuff.

If you're having that much of a problem with green tea, check for some of the other mixture/flavored blends... mandarin orange is pretty damn nice actually. But don't load it up with sweetener.

    Or milk.

Both of these are decaf, and have a little more flavor, both a little sweet. You should avoid the sugar too.

Green Tea is for cleansing the pallet when eating strong food....Or that's what I think, not a nice enough drink to have on it's own.

Have some warm water if you're that desperate for a hot drink.

You are all aware you're drinking leaves in water?

Orange juice, now that's where it's at.
